Is it me or are there less pics of Colorado bulls for rifle hunters this year?
Started off good with some nice bulls in Archery and Muzz then faded away.
Post your Colorado bull success pics no matter the size.
Most of us would like to see your success and congratulate you on it.
Heck, any bull in many areas of Colorado is a good bull in the land of the Orange Army.
Best,
Jerry

Been a slow season. I think it was due to the wet spring, keeping the elk high. I pulled a raghorn 5&5 out of 441 second day of third rifle. I was happy with it, until I walked through the door of the taxidermist to have the rack put on a plaque. Yes, I suffer from antler envy.....

LAST EDITED ON Nov-17-11 AT 02:14PM (MST)[p]I took a 5x5 Bull in SW Colorado in the San Juan mountains during the first Colorado rifle elk season. This was a DIY hunt on public land.

Dad and I got a small bull in SW Colorado again this year during 3rd season. Havn't had time to write up the story yet. Not sure what the earlier seasons were like but there was hardly anyone up there during the 3rd.

I also hunted the 3rd rifle season, and was also surprised in the few number of hunters. I seen over 90 elk in six days of hunting and the only legal bulls were either before daylight or after dark. They were nice ones. I think next year I know where to go.

I like the hole in the tine, Good looking bulls.
I always say it take a year or two to learn a unit good enough to hunt it and get a animal.

I didn't have a tag, but if I had, I could have atleast "shot at" one of these 6x6 bulls. For a split second while looking at these bulls, I wished I had a tag, but that thought quickly faded as I began thinking about the packing it out. My interest lasted about as long as this video clip.
I think I could have hit one of them. They were only 250 yards.

Fishlake, that is an absolute stud of a bull. Tell your uncle congrats on that one.

Joe2 that is an awesome first bull! Nice shot placement to!!

Posted the story in Colorado, but here it goes again...
It was a do it ourselves, over the counter, 3rd season...his first time hunting elk and my second (I got skunked last year).
We were about 5-6 miles in at about 11 thousand feet and had bedded the herd about 2 hours earlier (watched them from about a mile away). The final 200 yards found us in surprise as the herd had just gotten up and was beginning to walk away, I looked to my left and the bulls were up the hill from us (3 legal ones in the herd). Both bulls were killed within 300 yards of each other...the packout was quite the adventure!!!

take care all,
this weekend I begin with my son and his "extended season" cow tag (31OCT-31JAN)...should be good!!!

I hunted second season, DIY hunt-first time in this unit.
Saw 35-40 elk throughout the week, ended up harvesting a small 5x5. Filled my mulie tag on the last evening...Had a great time-made some new friends while I was there too. Can't wait to head back to Colorado.
