Okay, can anyone tell me about this bull? I tried to do a search here for it and I can't seem to find it so I apologize in advance if this has already been posted here. I got this in an e-mail from some friends who could not give me anymore details other than the ones that came with the e-mail. We all know how that goes. So how is it this bull was taken in the bow season with a rifle? Is this a early bull hunt, does anyone know? Regardless it's a very impressive and great looking bull. Congrats to the hunter!

I copied and pasted what was sent to me.

Stinky, is this in your neck of the woods??

"Bull was taken from Ruidoso, New Mexico during the bow
season 2011.
Here are some pictures of a Boone & Crocket world record
deluxe bull elk.
The young man that shot it is Daniel Baeza. He is afriend of mine. His wife
and Amanda grew up together in Jal, NM. This bull scored 595 points and is
to be verified by Boone & Crocket people in the next few days."

i think its on the boone and crockett trophy watch. its beena few weeks since i checked it out so i cant recall what they said

I copied this straight from the Boone & Crockett Trophy Watch page:

UPDATE: 11/1/11 – TW has been notified via several emails that this is a hunting preserve bull from Idaho. One from an emailer who states he was on the same hunt when the bull was shot.

Captive animals, private herd, or shooting preserve trophies are not eligible for entry into B&C records. These data is only collected for biological and scientific purposes on wild, free ranging game.

This bull has been making the rounds reported to be an archery bull from New Mexico with a score of 595 and B&C is to be verifying.

B&C has not seen any entry paperwork to date on this bull.

The bull is at artistic wildlife studios in Carlsbad NM. He was brought in with 3 other bulls over 400". Manny chavez is the taxidermist mounting them. The original story he gave me was that they were archery kills off unit 17, then unit 36, then god knows where. So I went over to check them out and right off the bat I said so this guy was a bow kill in NM? Manny said yep! I then said, his 3 buddies all killed bulls over 400 on the same hunt? Manny snickered and said no they were killed with a rifle on the broadmouth ranch owned by roulon Jones in Idaho. If you see the horns in person the ranch aspect to the horns jumps at you. I forget the guy who shot them but everyone in the oilfield has been told by him that they are public land bulls. He just sold his water hauling business in the oilfield and took all his friends on their first ever elk hunt. He lives in Carlsbad about 30 minutes south of me. Thats everything I know about it.

And yes manny is an official sci scorer and was the one who measured that bull. He then called sci to start the paper work of entering that bull in the books. I also called broadmouth and verified the story and then enquired on the price of a 600" bull.

Are you sitting down?????

$85,000!

WOW the water hauling business must be good.

+1 Gator, WOW that's a lot of cashola even for a ranch bull! An impressive rack though.

3rayz, thanks for the info. I didn't think to go there.

Stinky, also thanks for the backup story and your research. Since the second picture had a rifle in it I was pretty sure it wasn?t killed with a bow and had a sneaky suspicion it was a ranch bull but hey, we have seen where one big ole boy wasn?t a ranch bull so Id rather not guess.

Nice work detective..

$85,000!!!!! Holy sh!t that's insane!!!

Although I guess I shouldn't be too surprised...know some guys who paid $45,000 for a 235" whitetail in south Texas...

$85,000 is a bargain! I remember an elk tag in Utah auctioning for over $150,000 a few years ago. That's on public land with no gaurantee you're going to shoot one over 350.

It's always an adventure!!!

just got confirmation from several oil field guys that Baeza was the shooter of that high fence bull. Baeza trucking was his business. I was just unaware that he sold it. He didn't have more trucks than I did before I got out of the water hauling biz and at its peak I was only gonna be able to get about $1 million for everything. After taxes and depretiation loss I would have had almost nothing. Especially not enough to take me and 3 buddies on a hunt like that. So I'm not totally sold on the fact that he sold his business. Besides, who really cares about high fenced bulls. it would be the same as everyone on here being really impressed with those antelope island bucks. Its just not an accomplishment at all. Anyone old enough to pull a trigger could do it.

Here are pics I took of his friends bull. It scored in the 440 range I believe.

so is it possible they shot 2 bulls with their bows both well over 400 inches out of the white mountain wilderness or off the ski slopes of ski apache in unit 36 in the same year at the same time? sure! anythings possible huh? lol

I don't care where they shoot them. I still like seeing HUGE Antlers, Kind like T!Ts still like looking at real ones or the fake ones, Just can't take the eyes off them. LOL
