LAST EDITED ON Feb-02-07 AT 08:23AM (MST)[p]I saw a few others putting up their bucks for guessing and thought it would be fun to do the same.

This is the last muley I shot in Idaho before moving East. Sorry the field kill photo is poor quality. I highly regret not taking better photos at that time. I was still in shock at the size of the deer and not thinking straight.
The last photo was taken after mounting.

Guess the gross and net.

I will post the scores in a couple days. Good luck

Hint: he is 35 1/2 inches wide from cheater tip to cheater tip.

I'm not a good score guesser so not gonna even try, will leave the guessing to the experts around here...just wanted to say dang nice buck!

Thanks for sharing

That is a great buck, I would have dropped the hammer on that toad in a heartbeat.

I'm usually a little more on the conservative side but this buck has is all - so I'm guessing...

236.

Awesome non-typical!

Great looking buck! Clean the dust off of him! haha
Id say he is right around the 230" gross mark give or take an inch

LAST EDITED ON Feb-02-07 AT 02:46PM (MST)[p]Well, some of the gross guesses are pretty close. One is within 5/8 inch. Nobody is close on the net though.

That's not dust, it's velvet.

I didn't realize how dusty he was until I saw the close up pictures. He sits high up in the corner of the room and looks fine from a distance. As I was posting them, I thought to myself, "I hope nobady notices the dust". Oh well, He's cleaned off now. I hope the "mass" measurements didn't drop too much.

An interesting side story to this buck is the spring before I shot him, I was rockchuck hunting on a ranch about 15 miles from where I shot this deer. I was hiking through the sage and found this shed.

I remember thinking I would love to get a deer like him in the fall. Well 6 months later, the first time I saw him was when I shot him. It wasn't until I got home and glanced at the shed that I noticed the similarities. There is an extra point coming off the g-3 on the shed, but other then that, the points are identical, except smaller.

I was wondering if anybody knew the migration distance of deer.

I assume the shed is off of this buck, but 15 miles seems a good distance for him to travel. The elevation between the two locations is very similar.

I wish I had enough luck every year to shoot the buck with the biggest shed I found.

I would guess 214 gross. 204net.
Saw you wanted net too. No matter what the score it's a hog.
Awesome buck congrats and thanks for sharing.

236 5/8 gross and 228 2/8 net.

This deer is acually tricking me, my first reaction was about 225 Gross. but when I broke it down I came out with 252 Gross and knowing that was wrong I did it again being even more conservitve and got like 247, So I went with what Roy said and just added the 5/8 (knowing that someone was 5/8 off). So I'm cheatin off of you roy.:) But I was obviosly doing something wrong.

Well, There were some good guesses.

I think Slider was the closet with 219. There were two others with 220.

I have never had him officially scored, but the taxidermist who mounted him scored him at 218 3/8 gross and 210 3/8 net.

I have also taped him myself about a dozen times and always come within about 3/4 inch of that. So I figure it must be close.

I think if his left g4 had matched the right, he would have been B&C awards. I'm still happy with him.

Thanks everybody for looking and guessing

No it was never in any magazine. There was an article written in trophy hunter about 8-9 years ago titled "The Prayer" that mentions this buck. The author had hunted this buck and then ended up getting a larger one after I shot this one.
