CO 53,54,55,63 2nd Season

LAST EDITED ON Feb-02-07 AT 09:25PM (MST)[p]I'm looking for some advice about which of these Colorado units to apply for, my Dad is older and in OK shape, and I'm in my thirties and tend to seek out the rough stuff. We have a small travel trailer or a wall tent. Of coarse the trailer would be nice, but I'm concerned about finding a campsite (general bull season)as well as possible weather limitations? I also have questions concerning access, especially in 63 and 54? We have 3 points, so unit 55 looks like the only unit we may not draw this year. I'm looking for something 170+ and my dad would like to get a descent 4 point.

If I had a choice, I would hunt september in 54 or 55. If you are set on 2nd season, then work on getting permission or finding BLM land in 63. Good dear in 63 without a lot of elk hunters.

Theres some private down around Gunnison (54) most of the public land is pretty easily accessable .The only drawback is all the bull elk,cow elk,doe hunters that you will run into on opening day.I would think you can draw 55(2nd season) with 3 pts.
