LAST EDITED ON Jan-29-12 AT 12:26PM (MST)[p]Lots of ranches will let you hunt for a "trespass" fee, the question is "How much is that fee" ?

Depending on the quality and size of the ranch, those fees can range from a few hundred to upwards of 5 grand.

Thanks for the head ups. What is the best way to find out about ranches that will do these kinds of hunts for a trespass fee?

I called the F&G several years ago when a friend drew and they sent me a list of probably 20 ranchers. I also called a biologist and asked his opinion and he suggested a couple I think. Also got a few suggestions from MM members.

You can get a list from Wyoming game and fish. You can get a list of HMAs also.

My dad already has an in on 2 different ranches if we draw this year. But I'm from Missouri so I'm planning on public land. If the ranches have potential, all the better.

If you don't have multiple days to scout, then a trespass fee may be the way to go... the HMAs will be over run unless they are a draw like Deer Creek and the rest of large public land areas will be a zoo as well. I spent 20+ days scounting this summer and ended up having to go to my "plan E" because plans A-G were a bust due to hunting pressure... and I don't hunt anywhere that's within 2 miles of a road...

This is archery BTW... Rifle season is an absolute fiasco... there are nearly 5000 tag holders PLUS a general deer season going on... A trespass fee would be a great option.

Im with Gil, if you dont have lots of time to scout this area its a good place to stay away from. I think the Wagonhound gets $8500.00 now. Be prepared
