I was wondering if there was anyone who has hunted the Nebo before? My brother has a great chance of drawing the muzzleloader tag, but we haven't spent very much time on the unit. I did come across a bachelor heard last spring with some nice bulls in it but was just not sure if the unit would be worth it. Thanks for any info or pics!

The turkeys are doing very good on Nebo....
But every thing else need HELP!

Both deer and elk are in the Chitter....

A half decent bull can still be pulled off Nebo, IF
your both lucky and know it very well.........

It was a hellava good unit 6+ years ago,,but no more.

Here's a picture of my Nebo muzzy bull from 2010....I had a great time hunting the unit and would again in a heartbeat. I also helped a buddy of mine pack another muzzy bull out last season. It's a very demanding unit and will kick your butt physically, but there are elk and they are super fun to hunt! A 320 bull is a realistic expectation with anything larger just being icing on the cake. Feel free to PM if you'd like

It's a tough unit, get in good shape and lots of scouting, if you draw let me know I have hunted it for years.

I don't claim to be an expert on the Nebo, by any means. My little brother drew the muzzy tag last year and I had a chance to learn the unit a little bit better. As others have said, it's a tough unit. It will test you mentally and physically.
In our experience last year, seems the elk were pretty spread out. I think the rifle hunters may had played a role in that. Elk seemed to be down in the deep nasty places. Doesn't seem like they really "herd" up like in other units. You see smaller groups here and there.
Early season scouting, we had seen good numbers of elk and bulls. By the time the hunt rolled around it was a whole different story.
All that being said, my brother did kill a bull. We decided if we had a chance at a decent bull we were going to take it. It was the only bull we saw on our hunt, we did only hunt the first morning though.
I will be willing to share any other info you might need. Just let me know if you draw.
Good luck!
