I enjoy seeing members pictures with a score on the buck. Sure does help to be able to field score them. Let's bring on the pictures!

I'd post mine, but oh yeah, still waitin on the tag! I'm new to all this.

Just remember to knock 20 inches off from whatever score you see as it will make it more accurate. ; )

The best way to get a true jist of judgeing scores is to get out that tape measure and start measuring bucks. Even the little ones.

Good advice to knock off 20 inches.

I think what I'll do is when I shoot and see him fall I'm going to sprint on a dead run up to him as to not give him much time to shrink on me. lol!

Here is my son's first deer in 2002. Funny how many different guesses people gave us when they saw it. We know nothing about how to score and we really don't worry about scores.

Hearing the wide differences in estimated scores from supposed score experts, my son brought it to an outdoor show to be officially scored. The supposed experts all over-estimated it by more than 10", and some by more. It is 27 2/8 wide (outside), not counting the 3 extra sticker points.

173 5/8" gross - official. Makes our family record book (as do all our deer). Makes me realize just how big a 195" (official) gross deer must be.

Happy Hunting!

not intending on changing the subject, just wanted to say dang nice buck and even sweeter cause its the 1st. thanks for sharing your pic.

You first two idiots are why more people dont send in more pictures. Who cares what score somebody puts on their picture a lot of people just like to look at them.B.C. boy had it right in another post today there is always someone who wont believe whatever is posted why cant you just enjoy the picture and think whatever you want about the score.

First of all, put a tape measure on that kids smile if you want to score something THATS what it is all about.

I'm not exactly sure why I am being called an idiot. Hmmm, suggest you not put everything into a score, or believe everything you see, and the best way to get good at scoring antlers is to put your tape on a bunch. Whatever dude!

Boneaddict, I think you have it correct on everything. I have seen many deer posted and elsewhere with "scores" so far off it was funny. Put the time in on measuring then actually look at the horn not the inflated/hyped photos to make up your own mind on what it may score.

bigmoosie - idiot? For asking members to post their picture and inform the rest of us what it taped out at? I know more goes into a "trophy" then what it tapes out at, but I'm just curious and like to know. If we want to take a look at an idiot why don't you look at your punctuation and grammar above; I can hardly understand what your talking about.

Back to the post - nice pics!! What an awesome buck!

Come on guys lighten up. Most people don't inflate the scores on purpose. Many do not know how to score correctly. 20" is alot though and most of us can tell if they are that far off even from deceiving pictures. I find it entertaining and fun to guess scores.

As far as I am concerned Boneaddict got it right on both counts. And the SMILE SHOULD BE way more important than antler/horn measurements.
This sight is labeled MONSTERMULEYS. What a "monster" is varies from person to person, and it very well should. As far as I am concerned, my kids first 24" 4x4 is way more of a trophy than anything I have ever taken, WAY MORE.
On the other hand, some sportsman like to "talk the talk" (especially about others) but can rarely "walk the walk" Did I get that backwards? Makes sense to me at least.
I think its instinct, we people tend to over exaggerate things. WHY we do it varies from person to person. Many times it may be just adreniline, many times lack of knowledge on how to judge or score an animal, yet many times, unfortunately, its to show the World (or at least MOST of the World) they have achieved something very few others have. The bigger the score, the less sportsman there is out there that have taken an animal of that caliber. To put yourself on a "pedestal" of sorts.
Achieving your OWN goal (in my OPINION) is way more important than achieving your goal for others. If you (in all sincerity) don't give a darn (or ratzazz) as they say up North' what somone else thinks of the size of your horn (or ears) Then DO NOT POST WHAT YOU THINK YOUR ANIMAL SCORES. (or the size of its ears) If they ask for a score (sometimes, on occasion, people do that) You have no reason to give it. It is really none of their business, and most of us can admire that, when combined with a polite explaination.
IF you give a score (especially on such an opinionated sight as this one) then unfortunately, you have sadly put yourself in front of the "internet firing squad"
That squad is made up of folks from all different backgrounds, experiences and agendas, but a simple explaination why you prefer not to post your score I hope, at least, would be respected by most of us.
Gosh, we live in a great country, dont we? I reserve the right NOT TO POST the scores of my forkhorn collection. Please respect that.

Also BIGFIN, that is a beautiful buck your boy is pictured with and that day is irreplacable, and more that likely "untoppable" no matter what size of deer he harvests in the future. Congratulations to him!
Thanks for taking a kid hunting. From one father to another.
