LAST EDITED ON Feb-26-07 AT 09:36PM (MST)[p]If comparing balistics - is 200 fps at 200 yards THAT much more? I can't remember the exact figures, but I was comparing two bullets balistics and it was something like 2500 fps vs 2700 fps. Also, is 200 foot lbs energy at 200 yards THAT much more?

Not that much, learn to shoot and it doesn't matter that much. Could hardly read your post. You should learn how to spell, maybe "ballistics".

200 fps is roughly the amount of velocity a bullet looses per 100 yards, and 200fpe is roughly the amount lost in 50 yards...

IMO, it doesn't mean jack inside 300 yards.

bigmoosie.....go up and check out ck2128's thread that says...... "MM site down the tube". You fit right in!!

Muleyslyr, if you go to the post Deer picture score, you will see where ck2128 jumped on me for my puncuation bfd.I was just trying to make a point about how many get on here and basically call everyone a liar that posts a score. Who really gives a rats ass what something scores. Like someone said its much nicer to see the big smile on a kids face or some old timer with a nice buck.I have been scoring deer for over 45 years and usually do really well on the guess the score contests on here and I just chukle to myself about some of these scores. I really enjoy the pictures and I was just trying to say if everytime someone puts a buck or elk or anything else on here and all you so called picture score guessing experts pick it apart, people are going to be real reluctant to put it on here. I have been a member on here right from the start and have seen the site go downhill in my estimate which I realize probably doesn't mean much. I think its still one of the best sites out there. And if all you so called experts at everything dont like that too damn bad. I mostly have done nothung on here but try and help people, I have been doing this for a long time have hunted and fished most of the world and thought I might be able to help a few of you, but I wont be posting here much anymore.

200 feet per second is not that much to worry about. You probably would never notice the difference between the two bullets. I would see which one shoots the best and shoot that bullet because they are very close from the sounds of it.

Back on track. 200 fps is just a bit less than the difference between a .30-06 and a 300 win mag, and just a bit more than the difference between a .308 and a .30-06. So apparently its enough difference to warrant a whole rifle/cartridge upgrade for lots of people. I tend to believe that every little bit helps, but velocity should come behind bullet performance and accuracy when choosing a hunting rifle/cartridge.

:( Somebody didn't like bouncing betty :(

Thats true....The .308 winchester is a winchester caliber and the 30-06 is a springfield caliber. Thats why you have the two guns (to sell more), not because one can out-do the other always. These two can be loaded to identical velocities and performance. I guess it depends on what caliber you are shooting whether or not the 200fps is worth it though.

I have some that do and some that don't. My 300 RUM loves to burn the barrel to shoot tight groups.

Most magnum calibers will shoot more accurate with at or near max powder charges.

P.S. I proof read my post about 4 times to make sure I spelled correctly.

Real Men hunt when it's cold and snowy. You probably like the bow hunt so you can work on your tan. I like to HUNT HUNT HUNT bow, muzz and rifle so does that make me kinda wuss? Grow up.
