Utah elk tooth data

I have been waiting for the results to show up, and they are finally there. I was blown away to see that this bull was 9 years old. I killed him on the Manti early hunt last september. It was a great time with my dad, brother, cousins, uncle and friends. We had heard this bull bugle in the morning on the other side of the canyon. That evening we were able to ride down in and get him to answer us, and he sounded really close. Then it all went silent for several minutes, nothing. Another bull was bugling in the next canyon so we mounted up to head over there. We didnt go 3-400 yards before we saw the cows in the quakies. They all filed through one by one, and finally after some tense moments the bull came through the only shooting lane I had. One shot and he went down, 280 yds. I was happy. My brother had seen this bull 2 days before the opener, it was a 13 year wait/dream come true for me. Thanks to all who helped.
Anyone else got their data, or would like to share?

That's a very nice bull. I drew that tag in 07' and my bull was 7 years old. Were you up in Ephraim canyon?

LAST EDITED ON Mar-23-12 AT 11:38AM (MST)[p]Very nice looking bulls guys! They represent several lifetimes worth of memories! Congratulations!

Thanks for the interesting info guys.

PS: I need to get my daughter to look up her elk's age. She killed a good bull on the Wasatch this past Fall.

PPSS; She just looked. Her bull was 9.

After Looking at everyone elses I was totally surprised when I looked and saw that mine came back at 7 yrs old. I assumed since he was a little on the smaller side he was younger but guess not. I took him on the wasatch archery.

My 2011 Wasatch Bull aged at 11, about what I thought. He almost could be offspring of my Dad's 1999 Wasatch bull!

Sweet pics, I'm having trouble on finding my teeth results for my bull from 2011 season just wondering if any of you guys could help me out.

Great bulls everyone!

These bulls are great examples of why I feel UT should manage for bull/cow ratios instead of age class. Not all 8-9 year old bulls are gonna be 380+ bulls. In fact very few 8-9 year old bulls probably every reach that mark, I feel it would be a better way.

I agree C_C.
Not every bull will reach 380" with age. From what I've seen, most bulls will never reach 380" no matter how old they are.

Here's an example of my daughter's 356" bull at 9 years old.

NV has done some age and score research. I would say most 8-9 yr old bulls wont reach the 350 mark. Some 4-5 yr old bulls have scored 380 plus.

I agree managing herds by age alone is stupid for sportsmen and the elk herds.

Here's a photo of my Bull that I killed this year on my limited entry tag. ...Tooth Data came back at 9 years... Official Gross score was 393 B&C and he was entered in the Book at 3846/8 Net.....

My 2011 bull was 13 years old. He grossed 355, without the second and third points on the right side (which he failed to grow for whatever reason). Still, a neat looking bull, but definitely in his last years.

I usually hear of bull at age 10 or under. 13 years is a long time for a bull to avoid hunter, predators, cars, fences, weather, other bulls etc.

Here's my wife's 8 year old bull from 2006.

Incredible bull dogdoc, congratulations! I can't wait to finally draw. These are all great stories and bulls. I want a story of my own, and to share the experience with the old man, my two brothers and my two young boys. Crossing my fingers for the Utah draw results.
