Wyoming Elk from 2010

Hey everyone. I was going through some old emails and found these pictures of my buddy's elk that we got in Wyoming back in 2010. It was his first elk ever, and he drew the tag with 0 bonus points. I have a house in the area we hunted, so it was very convenient. We hadn't even made it to the spot we wanted to hunt on our first morning there when this guy came rumbling out of the trees. First shot was at 226 yards and the second at 280ish to finish him off. He walked about 50 yrads and dropped. The entry holes were about 3 inches apart. Had him back to the house and hanging by 10am. Not bad for a first elk hunt haha. The elk had a Wyo G&F tag in his ear so we had it checked and found out that he was tagged at a near by feed ground when he was a yearling. He was 4 1/2 years old. Excellent. Great bull. Got to love Western Wyoming. My friend took a spike last year that had a G&F ear tag as well. Feedground brucellosis testing.

Congrats on a good bull. Does your friend think this is how elk hunting well be every time. Wish my first elk hunt was that successful.

It was a very fun, but short hunt. I did take the time, several times in fact, to tell him how unbelievably lucky he was haha. I have never been on an elk hunt this easy, and doubt I ever will be again.
