im bored so sorry for all the posts, but was wondering what everyone thought of the wasatch unit im not looking for honey holes or secret spots i just want to hear some imput on the quaility of bulls up down big little any pics would be nice as well if you feel like sharing

If your looking for a fun hunt with alot of bulls look no further. As far as killing a giant don't get to excited about this unit . Had a muzzy tag there last year spent 7 days on the mountain (the last 3 days of the rifle the two days between hunts and two days on my hunt) killed one of the bigger bulls I seen a 300 inch 6x7. Seen several 330 bulls during the summer but could not turn them up during my hunt. Overall a very fun hunt seen 11 bulls in the two days during the hunt. If looking for lots of action and some ok bulls can't go wrong with this hunt.

A lot of bulls but not many big bulls. If you will be dissapointed with a 300-320 bull this unit may not be for you.

I spent 18 days on the archery hunt last year and felt very lucky to get a 320 bull.

I shot a 330 bull on the archery hunt last year, then had family take a 350 and a 360 bull out on the rifle hunt a week later.

The thing about the Wasatch that is tough is finding areas that everyone and their dogs don't know about, and once you find those areas figuring out if they hold bulls.

Like the post above said, you could easily get a 280-320 type bull.... But if you work hard, it's not impossible to do better (at least for now, they keep upping the tags and they'll turn the Wasatch into a CO general season type hunt)

I spent 20+ days on the wasatch with my bow last year. Best hunt ever. Was into bulls everyday but unfortunately was not able to connect on a bull. Most bulls you see will be 320 bulls but you will see lots of them. There are bigger bulls there just got to find em

LAST EDITED ON Apr-17-12 AT 02:36PM (MST)[p]I took my daughter into 3 different areas on the Wasatch last year.

After 20+ partial days of scouting, 3 days backpacking in and out and a horse ride thrown in for good measure, we finally finished on the second to the last day of the rifle season (7 full days hunting). She killed a 356" bull.

With all that time spent we only saw a couple bulls larger than hers. We did see lots in the 300" class and a several in the 330 class. While we saw lots of bull, I'd have to say we didn't see lots of big bulls.

I've not posted her pix yet (I just learned how). Maybe I'll write a little story and post some pix in a thread. I think she'd like that.

PS: Hey jbigd30, I posted a story and pix of Jessica's Wasatch bull from last year. Take a look and I hope you get excited about drawing a tag!

Isent there a bunch of cow tags during the bow Bull hunt? If so, Is it much of a problem? I might be able to draw it next year. Just nervous about the cow tags. Tony

There is the general season archery hunt going on during the same time... People hunting spikes/cows are going to be out and about, yes... However, we ended up getting alot of help from an awesome group of general season hunters who steered us in the direction of the elk. They'd see herds we weren't and visa versa (sp)so we could help each other out.

Got to the point where we would visit each others' camps every night to get an update on the day. Was really cool.

LAST EDITED ON Apr-18-12 AT 07:31AM (MST)[p]New to elk hunting I drew the archery tag with 4 points. I was able to hunt quite a bit and had some fun experiences with smaller bulls. Out of excitement and lack of experience I was able to connect with this bull. Around a 260 bull. Unfortunately it took a week and a half to find him so nothing left but a pile of bone when I found him, and my arrow.

He looks great on your wall. Pretty darn cool archery kill! Congrats.
