Well, I got 11 more weeks until my summer starts, then I'll be working for Icicle Creek Outfitters for the summer and plan to enlist with the Army next winter... After talking with my Father I want to go on an out of state Muley hunt for my senior present and want a chance at some good bucks. Looking at putting in for a rifle hunt (will hunt archery here in WA) hopefully around middle to late October through the end of November... I wish we could get in on a early season hunt, but the summer job won't allow it most likely.

So if anybody has got some info on either ID or CO I'd much appreciate it. Not looking for any honey holes or nothing, just some starting info would be great... Thanks.

Colorado and Idaho haven't done their draws yet. So study the websites of each, they both can tell you alot of information, such as, buck/doe ratios, and hunter success. Pick the season you want and put in a second choice for each. Idaho has no pref. point program so you don't run the risk of having to have multiple points. some ideas for Idaho units 44, 45, 32A, 40, and a sleeper is 52.

Put in for any buck rifle hunt in November, the unit of your choice. You work hard enough, you will find quality. Since you have to buy a license to apply in Idaho plan to hunt the 24th thru 31st on general season if you don't draw. If nothing else, you can see if you're in shape for the service :)

Thanks for the info guys! Anybody know when the deadlines are for putting in? I'll start doin some research.

April 3rd...
We have no preference points, so I'm pretty sure we won't be drawing, but you gotta start somewhere eh?

Idaho's fish and game website has a pretty good planning tool. You can lookup all the statistics you would really want there. We hunted 45 last year. We didn't get the chance to hunt as many days as we wanted, but I can say that they guys I know who are Mule deer freaks all admit the ave quality is way down. I think some guys lean more toward 44 than 45 right now. I don't think there are any Units in Idaho right now that you won't have to put in alot of time and effort to get something more that say a 25" 170 class buck, unless you're really lucky.
