Im hunting Elk 1st rifle season would it pay me to pick up a deer permit for this area around ute lodge outside of Meeker CO

dshauf, I may be wrong but, I do not believe you can hunt Deer in the 1st rifle season-check your regs.

sorry I should say the first week of hunting deer or elk oct.20-28 which would be 2nd combo

If you are just planning on having a tag in case then yes get the tag but if you plan on really seeing numbers of deer then don't waste the money. There are plenty of elk up there but the deer are'nt very thick up that high on this side of the flattops.
