Another CO Draw Question

Regarding the purging of preference points...does that start this year (meaning if I put in for PP only this year, I will lose the points from prior years...I have not applied for a hunt in previous years, only PP)? Or does it start next year? The language in the regs is a little unclear, and I haven't been able to get through to CDOW to get an answer.

From the regs:

8. Preference points accumulate until you draw a first-choice
license. If you don't apply at least once within 3 consecutive
years for a deer, elk, pronghorn or bear license, you will lose
your points for that species. Applying for preference points
keeps your file active. NEW FOR 2007: Purging begins
after the 2007 drawing

I don't think there is anyway you will lose your preference points if you use the PP code. In the past, wasn't it if you missed two years in a row, you were out?

In the past it was 5 years, I believe.

The key word here is "if you don't APPLY once in 3 consectutive years".

As long as you apply, whether it is for a tag or just for preference points, you will not be purged.
