Paunsaugunt Elk for 2012

What kind of unit is the Paunsaugunt for elk? My dad drew it with 15 points instead of Manti, which is his home court, so to speak. I wish I would have been around to help him pick his unit choices. We're totally unfamiliar with that area.

The Pauns isnt worth 15 points IMO. Its managed AS A Lower Tier Unit. They did take a few 350 plus bulls in 2011 and one 380 class bull but thats not the norm. I drew the archery tag this year but it only took 2 points and I know its a tough hunt . I live on the unit and can scout alot. If your dad keeps the tag get in touch maybe I can help out.

Turn that tag back in!!!! 15 points is too high a price to pay for that tag IMO. If Manti is his back yard, then try for that one next year.

Fin I think you're right. If he keeps it I will definitely be in touch. I think when he applied he got this unit mixed up with Pahvant.

I agree with the two previous posts. 15 points is alot to burn on that unit. I have been putting in for it, but I also live on it. I would recommend turning the tag back.

you will see bulls..mostly 300'-320' range!
maybe 1 hog in the unit...if ya hunt it you do have to scout it!
if you work hard enough it may happend!
alot of people will be in the field with you so the bulls do get some pressure..
