Awesome pics.

I gotta ask, is that a wolf in the background? Looks pretty dark to be a coyote.

Yes that was a wolf. It was a single animal and passed within 20 yards of one small bull who actually at one time kind of chased the wolf for a short distance.

Yes, in Yellowstone!

And the question, every hunter seems to ask, has been answered bt this bear. Look real close at this photo and you will see what i mean.

Headed there in just a few hours. Mind sharing some spots of where you saw most of your wildlife activity? Or are those considered honey holes?

No not at all.

We were camped at Madison Campground. I would usually see elk, early in the morning at Gibbons meadows, which is several miles before Norris. The grizzlies can be seen usually about 6 miles before you get to Mammoth. They are usually there early and again late afternoon, early evening. Lots of people will be there so you can Usually tell.

Most of the black bear I saw were between Mammoth on the road to Tower and Roosevelt, and nearer to Tower. I also saw a few in the Lamar Valley. There are buffalo all over, but the best place for those are the Lamar Valley. I also saw a number of grid out there too, but they were far away on the ridge tops through good glasses.

I saw elk, buffalo, griz and black bear in the Hayden Valley. I think those are the main places you will see the greatest number of critters if that is what you hope to see.

Have a fun and safe trip.

Were those in June? I saw 2 monster bulls last weekend. They were already pushing 300" so they would be great 350 class bulls this year!

Yes they were all in the first few days of June.

Here's one that has no velvet, but insures some do!

I'll be there in a few weeks, and I always spend a bunch of time in the Gibbons area. Is there a specific place 6 miles before Mammoth that you are seeing the Grizz? A pull off or big meadow or soemthing? I would really like to spend some time trying to find a bear this year.

Do you have any info on the best locations to sit and glass a bunch of country?

Thanks a bunch!

Matt
