My dad's 75, coming with to Wyoming for Mulie/Antelope hunt. I'm wondering if a 25 06 or 243 are enough for Mulies?

.25-06 and .243 are plenty big for muleys. NO problems whatsoever.

Accuracy kills better than a lot of lead and powder. Your dad's eyesight probably limits him to the effective range of either so they should be fine. Good to see him out to get a muley!

25-06 or .243 will definitely get the job done. Great calibers for what you are looking to do.

My big 3x3 buck didn't complain about the ole' .243 core-lokt he got last year! Fun Caliber! Hit'em good and you should be good to go!

Both calibers are terrific. My choice would be the 25/06 or the 257 Roberts. More power than a 243 and better performance with minimal recoil. I own all three and they are wonderful and fun to shoot.

I know that this is not one of the calibers that you talked about, but I would look into the 7mm-08. This caliber will do what you want for either animal that you have said. I have bought rifles in this caliber for all my grandkids that have passed their hunter education classes (three of the five). And it has low recoil and quite a few choices as far as bullet weights. Here is a picture of my granddaughters whitetail that she took her first year hunting. She was nine years old (two years ago). It is jusy my personal opinion. It is a great caliber for young hunters and senior hunters.

I don't think caliber is such the critical factor. Some of the best shooting with decent recoil rifles were a 7mm Rem Mag. All that aside I would go with the best dang rifle round available the 30-06.

My dad is 73. And he is in great shape, I bought him a ruger m77 old tang style 25-06, had all the bells and whisles put on it, recrowned, triggerjob, bed job, bla bla bla. He killed his cow elk with it that year, great round, I bought me one the next year, We both shoot 110 accubonds 53gr reloader 22. great cal great guns. Bill

Great suggestions, have decided to go with a 25 06 and muzzle break. Shoot straight and good luck!

Now that is a terrific decision. Consider Accubonds or my favorite Barnes TSX or their new MSX.
You are going to love that rifle and be praised by your buddies for some straight shooting! I own more 25 cal rifles than I will admit to my wife!
