Anyone interested in helping a first time archery deer hunter.. I am not looking for any honey holes, but I will start scouting here in a few weeks and I am looking for some areas to start with.. I have a number of good late season rifle areas but having scouted it I know that the deer are usually not in that area during the early season..

I am definately willing to hike, any ideas where to start my scouting??? are areas like to bookcliffs good for the archery season??

by the way I am from the Salt Lake Valley if that helps... thanks ahead of time.. AJ

Yeah...I wouldn't suggest going archery hunting on the Book Cliffs....it does not sound like you have a LE tag for the area. If you're feeling lucky might want to give it a shot!

LE tag or not I suggest either the Books or the Henrys. Either way you should get into some deer. If you dont want to go to either of them then maybe you could try the high country on some general season deer areas.. (wink) Good luck..

AJ, what quality are you looking for? That will help narrow down areas to focus on. Feel free to shot me a PM or an e-mail. I'd be more than happy to help if I am able to. Anything to help get more people hooked on bowhunting.

:( Somebody didn't like bouncing betty :(

Jensen- Make sure you get a proclamation and hunt the areas that are open for your type of tag. I couldn't tell if you were joking or not but the bookcliffs is limited entry and you have to draw a special permit to hunt there.
