Colorado Unit 35 Buck

unit 35 is great for deer. I got my first buck there last year. Nice 4x4 during muzzleloading season. Look for Castle peak on your map. Hunt that area and the lower open ground BLM land. Really an excellent place for deer.

We plan on doing our home work and scouting the area prior to the season but I was hoping to get a few starting points from a few people familiar with the unit. Again we will be hunting from Nov 3-9 with rifle. It's a short hunt so we need to make the most of our time.
What kind of bucks can we expect to see on average? I'd imagine that time of year the deer will be at lower elevations. It's pre-rut time so bucks should start showing up around the does. PM me with any responses.

Thanks,

I hunted that tag 2 years ago during 2nd rifle. It was tough, lots of people and 0 deer , not even a doe!
I didnt make it to castle peak but you do need to be prepared for rough weather and especially road (dirt) conditions. They can ruin your hunt, a 4 wheeler would have saved my hunt just to get around on the main roads sp I could bail off and hunt.
On the other hand the country is awesome and that is enough to get me back there someday.
Some bucks will be rutting during 3td rifle, heck the rut could be in full swing then.
Yes the deer will be at lower elevations so I would hunt more of the higher p/j/sage transition and into the aspen. The wilderness area in my opinion will be to high.
