My brother drew this tag on questionable info. Late season hunt, but need info on access and what to expect. Just bringing him back into the hunting fold after long lay off. Any help would be appreciated!!!

Deer can be tough to find on public land in the unit. Public land is often difficult to access due to surrounding private land. Deer tags are a "dime a dozen" for the unit in all seasons and the amount of hunters you'll run into in many areas will reflect that fact. A lot of the country is super steep and timbered. What season did he draw?

He has a 3rd season tag. He also says he has connections to a ranch in the area, so I guess we'll have to wait and see. I am excited to just go along for the ride and have fun. Thanks for the help "Hi".

If he can get on private land, what kind of animals are we looking at?

IF you are on private land in the right area (i.e.: lower elevations with enough acreage to hunt), then you could be hunting some very good bucks, but you'll see lots of small bucks. In other areas, mature bucks are few and far between. There are big mountain deer that spend their whole lives in the mid-elevation timber country but they are extremely difficult to hunt.
