Wasatch Elk Early Rifle LE Tag

My Brother in law drew the Wasatch this year! We are super stoked, but neither of us have much experience in this Unit. Anyone willing to help us out on some good locations to start scouting? any info is appreciated.

Best thing to do at this point in the game is look over the maps, pick a spot and do some hiking and glassing. There are literally elk everywhere on this unit. I have the muzzy tag and have looked from the north to the south and east and west and have seen elk almost every time out. just pick a spot and go. Good luck on your hunt.

I drew out for that unit in 2010 and had a great hunt. I should have been in better shape though. Scout all around strawberry reservoir. Find a good vantage point and glass early and late. Talk to the folks at strawberry bay marina- very helpful and I think they guide the area. The elk have particular places each year they rut in. We found one on poison ridge- the ridge just east of renegade boat ramp. Shot a small 6x6 and called it in within 25 yards (best hunt of my life). If I had waited a minute longer I might have shot the big 6x7 that walked up the ridge after I shot, but I was very please with the bull I shot. We heard tons of bulls around our camp which was just south of poison ridge. Look for the nastiest, meanest country and you will find elk.

PM me..I can give you a little help. I have spent the last 3 seasons on the unit...basically guiding family and friends with tags. Know a few spots to get into some bulls.

It isn't hard to find elk though on the unit....like others have mentioned they are everywhere. I will be up there during the archery hunt as well this year in a couple of locations. 2 friends with tags.
