Idaho unit 73 would it be worth it for a non-resident to buy a deer tag in this unit if he had access to about 5000 acres right above deep creek resivor to the northeast. Was given the okay by the landowner and know it is a 4 point or better unit just wondering if anyone has hunted this unit before just looking for a 150 class buck. I would go up and scout just wanted to see what others thought before a made a couple trips over thanks.

It would be worth it to me.

Tell ya what, talk that landowner into letting me tag along (with a tag of course) and I will scout it for you. Seen some bucks in that area just a week or two ago.

PM me the land owners name and I will tell you if it is worth your time and gas to make trips up to scout. There is a lot land that does not carry deer around there so it could be useless. On the otherhand it may hold a 4point. Remember the season only last a week in that unit so you don't get a lot of time to try and score.

No trespass fee they are buying our ranch west of malad and have been talking to them about maybe a deer hunt.

A NR Idaho tag is a little spendy, when you add the license and tag fee you are at $400. The nice thing is that you can hunt almost statewide and the season goes Oct. 10-31 in a lot a areas which can really extend your season compared to a week long hunt in UT or CO. I think you could find a 150" buck in 73 or several other units if you hunt hard. I shot 150" bucks the last 2 out of 3 years in Idaho. Private property could make it even easier. Too bad you didn't buy your license a few weeks ago and you could have got in on the controlled hunt draw. The only promise I can make is that you for sure won't get a good buck if you don't buy a tag and don't go hunt. Life is short, and it's only money. Good luck.
