I was doing some smack talking last night with my Dad,Wife, and brother in law on who will kill the biggest buck this year. We decided to go with the widest outside spread. Do any of you folks make friendly bets with friends or family? If so, what do you base your bet on. Width, points, score, other? We were all lucky enough to draw Nevada (resident) this year. My Dad And I have 22 Early rifle. My bro in law 10 Early rifle and the wife has 114-115 late muzzleloader. My money is on the wife:)

It's always good to have a little family rivalry. But, I'd tend to agree with you. My money's on your wife! Good luck to all of you though!!

My family and friends all go together with $5/person to see who can get the biggest buck determined by gross boone and crockett score. My dad usually lucks(I use the term in jest of course) out and wins. One of these years though...

No one in my family hunts but me, so the group of guys i hunt with have the same "trophy" on the line every year at camp. We have a horn mount on a plaque of a 5" spike mule deer. The one who gets the smallest animal is awarded this and must hang it in his house till the following season. Also you must have a small brass tag engraved with your name, year and size of the buck attatched to the front of the plaque. The wives don't like it much, and it really bites if you are the only guy to bag one that trip. There is always plenty of smack talk around the camp, so you really eat crow if you get the "trophy". Measurments come down to width for us if 2 guys each get the same points count, ie- 4X4, narrowest rack takes home the "prize".

I've tried that in the past with some friends. We were going to go with gross B&C score, but for a couple of years running not a one of us even killed a deer. We decided betting was the curse and stopped the nonsense. Since then I've killed two great bucks in two years.... Go figure.

Mlycrzy,

I drew the early rifle tag on 114, 115 and would love to be able to bounce a couple of questions off of you regarding the unit, and definately give back any info that I come across to help with your wife's hunt. Let me know how I can contact you if you are interested. You can email me at [email protected].

Later.
