Which Buck Would You Take?

I would take the typical 4X4 if given a choice of all three, but if I 'had' to take one of the two you asked about, I would take the split-beam buck.

I would have chosen the split beam, but I probably would have missed and ended up with the 2 pt. instead.

The typical was nice but weak back forks, The drop was nice but overall weak, I would have picked the split main beam buck. Bill

That video was incredible! I'm watching it saying , how can 3 great bucks be hanging out like that? NM needs to jump on board to help mule deer , not just in unit 2 but state wide.
Now that I'm off the box , I'd love either of those bucks , but would take the split beam buck if the shot was there for both....

I'm with Roy. Probably would have missed the others and had to settle on the 2-point. However if a didn't miss I would also like the split main beam buck.

Neither..........They are both DEAD, read the post just below the video, the dropper was taken on a rifle hunt and the other one taken by a Lion.

I would want the typical ,The dropper buck looks like that horn may have been broken off.Do you guys think if he broke his main beem early in the growth process that it would continue to grow like it has ????

It depends on how many days I had left. Those look like summer time bucks in the Ruby's.
I think I would pass and look at some more bucks.
These bucks seemed undisturbed and you could always come back if you could not find one better.
Awesome footage of ggod bucks.

Don't shoot til your ready!

IMHO That dropper appears to be a damaged main beam. I believe that the lion killed the better buck, and my choice.

The droptine buck does have a damaged horn, he must have broke it off before his front fork developed, and there was two main veins still holding on a and supplying blood that pooled in the bottom of the dropper. Unfortunatly he broke it off when he shed his velvet, and didn't have it when we harvested him. I'll try to post a pic of both bucks dead in the next couple of days. A funny note I found the split beam buck buried under a quakie while we were stalking the drop tine buck. Damn lions anyway.

Split beam buck !
