Can't wait to see those pics. I'm going to be in 16d for MI hunt on Oct 6th. How's water situation? Any hints on good places to look would be appreciated. Is rut in full swing? What's antler situation?

i hunted the whole unit the governor tag bull got takin out of there while i was there. O Bar O got hit real hard texas hunters everywhere that wouldnt leave there 4wheelers or utvs but i got mine in the eagle peak area i saw a lot of 350's so the antler growth is really good this year supposedly the guy with the governors tag passed on 2 bigger bulls just because he wanted this 6x6 that had insanly big mass and it ended up going 398 7/8" but elk everywhere i was there since sept 1 and the bulls were bugling then i had the second archery and got mine on sept 14

when i saw his main beams thats when i was like this is my bull the front are a little weak but when i saw those whale tails i was like time to let some arrows fly

I'm glad the antler growth was back to normal for you guys this year compared to last year. I hope my information was helpful. Sounds like you got him in a different area though.

yeah i was in bulls everywhere started off at o bar o then went over by govina and john kerr hunted in black burro canyon and then in middle and deep canyon off of eagle peak before finding this bull i passed up a lot of 320's and 330's first morning passed up a 340ish but saw tons and tons of elk i scouted 6 weekends straight before the hunt and went up there sept 5 so i figured out where some big bulls stayed thanks for the help though it was a great year for 16D i saw some nice bulls in the back of trucks gettin shown off in reserve
