2012 Elk (pic)

[BOHNTR]

I arrowed this bull in AZ a few days back at 33 yards raking a tree and fending off satellite bulls. He's a freaky old bull bthat G&F estimated to be 8.5 years old. Absolutely the Biggest bodied elk I've ever arrowed.

I'm still here (AZ) helping my two partners get in on elk, as the season closes the 27th. Bugling has really tapered off, making it a bit difficult, but they'll give it their best. Hope you enjoy the photos.

That bull had some serious issues upstairs! N-i-c-e length on his left side G-2 and G-3, even with the screwy pedicle growing out of his forehead above his eye. A couple nights later one of Roy's buddies lost light dogging a herd with 2 bulls going at it(one was a gagger!). Not the easiest of hunts, but got faith that the boys will tag another bull or 2 by season's end (passed on multiple bulls already). Had a great time with Roy and his hunting partners --- go get 'em, guys! My tag next year ...

Here's a bull I got my hunting partner (Fred) in on this am. A sweet cow call stopped him at 44 yards. He went about 80 yards and was down. Both of his sword points (G4's) were broken and missing about 6-7".....even with broken points he should net just over 300". Nice bull for this unit. One tag left to fill.
