How many out there drew "G" or "H' as a 2nd choice? If so was it the regular license or the high dollar one?

H second choice special. I really wonder if something got screwed up this year with the draw as I know several guys that drew second choice regular tags in units that they shouldn't have. While guys that had it as first choices didn't draw...???

I had heard after the elk drawing that there was a flaw in the draw that allowed people with max points to draw there second choice even if max guys with that same unit as first choice didn't draw it. Sounds like it was the same with the deer draw. And don't they get to keep there points?

Kind of cluster for sure. Wishing I would of put in for a region a little closer to home now as my second choice

How is region H for muley hunting? I have a hunt scheduled for region H, area 152.

We put special H second because almost 80% of non-resident apps with H as second choice drew tags last year. I figured with H getting such a bad rap the last few years, we'd get it for sure and get a point. Unbelievably, we ended up with our first choice, which was 128.

My group and I put in for H as the first choice but got Region F instead. We've hunted H for 9 of the last 10 years and really wanted that since we know the area. I know nothing of Region F. Anyone got any pointers of a non-guided public land hunt?

I hunted Region F 4 years ago. My group went 5 for 5. Nothing big. All the deer we bagged came out of the South Fork Road out of Cody. I recommend that area.

Wyoming needs to work on this system! I put in for ?H? and did not draw, but many hunters can draw this and other units on their second choice and loose no points. This really screws the rest of us who are willing to give up our points to hunt what we consider our favorite area. Now my tag and many others are given to guys who really did not want our units anyway.

Hi all, I've enjoyed reading all of your posts here for quite a while but have never posted before.
I believe that there is a problem with the draw system. I put in for H special and did not draw, yet I read where some drew H special as a second choice.
The regs. specifically state: "Preference points shall not apply to license choices other than first choice in the initial drawing".
I called Wyoming Game and Fish today and the lady explained that applicants with a point going into the 07 draw, if unsuccessful in their first choice, would be put into a seperate pool or group that would then draw for their second choice, before those without a point get to draw for their first choice. In essence, someone with a point going in has a big advantage even on the second choice. They would keep all points too creating an even greater advantage for them the following year.

I tried to explain to her that this gives those with a point an advantage in the second choice draw that is greater than those without a point in the FIRST choice drawing! According to their own regs. this should not happen. No second drawing should even take place until all first choice applicants are drawn. She said that this is how they've done the moose and sheep draws for years. Does she even realize that no one could possibly draw one of those tags as a second choice. Nobody even uses second choice on those apps.
Sorry to ramble. Any thoughts?

What someone needs to remind them is the with Moose and Sheep, if you drew 2nd choice you LOST YOUR POINTS! This system is messed up and gives a huge unfair advantage to those with points who keep drawing 2nd choice. It basically sets them up to draw say an H tag 2nd choice every year, while those 1 pt down or so, will never draw.

They need to adjust to system to either go through everyone's first choice, pt by pt, then with remaining tags goto 2nd choice OR remove points when drawing 2nd/3rd choice.

This needs fixed!! Everyone needs to call and voice their concern or better yet, write a letter to the board and/or GF Commission.

P.S. Alot of people draw Moose with 2nd choice, e.g. if a guy with 11 pts puts in 2nd choice and doesn't draw his 1st choice, he gets his tag if nobody with 10+ pts puts in. It does happen, but AGAIN, they lose their points and NR it's once as a lifetime!

Good points!
I don't think there was supposed to be a second choice draw until all first choice applicants drew their tag.

Basically, I think they may have run those with points thru their initial draw, as they should, but then they ran those same ones thru again for their second choice. Before first choice applicants without points were given a shot!

Sorry to you guys that got @$#rewed.

Guess I'll make the best of my second choice tag this year, as I agree with you that it needs to be changed and isn't fair. I hope they change the current system soon.
