I drew out on the late tag for the manti unit this year. I am just wondering if anyone on the web site has drawn out or knows anyone that has, that might have some advice. I know that the early hunt is a little better and just looking to see if anyone has any good advice..thanks

I drew it a couple of years ago. I was praying for a bunch of snow but I guess I didn't pray hard enough and only got enough snow to mess things up. We hunted hard the entire time and I passed a couple of bulls that I should have not passed up. We also had some mess ups on especially on a very nice bull that we thought we spooked out of the area and when we got back down off the mountain my brother told us that he never left. OH well. I ended up shooting a bull the last day near Manti that I should have left for future hunter and really regret shooting him. He had great potential and he really means nothing because he was not a big enough bull to have shot. I guess when we put in for so long some of us weaker hunters can't stand the thought of not scoring. My bad for sure. You need to set yourself what you want and if you see it shoot it. If not don't shoot something just to shoot. Be prepared to hike a lot. We glassed from below then made the stalk into the bulls we saw. Great potential but most of it depends on weather. I shot my bull just above some of the fields on the Manti side on the last day. There were a lot of elk there making it almost harder than if there would have only been a couple. Good luck, have fun and remember most of us are way to caught up in "the score" and not the hunt. Make it fun and you are the only one that needs to be happy with what you take.

Thanks so much for the advice. I am going on the hunt with my son and my dad, so i am hoping it will be fun hunt.Did the snow stop you from getting up very high on the mountain, on skyline drive?
