My friend called me and said he has a cow elk tag for the Wasatch Currant Cr area and needs some help. I have never hunted this area. I am more familiar with the Strawberry side. I only have one day to go with him. I have looked at the maps and am looking at possibly going to Water Hollow or North Fork deep creek hollow. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Is it an early or late tag? This can make a difference depending on weather and tag numbers.

With all the early season tags issued on the unit you'll be able to sit in the truck and someone will run one past your buddy. NOT JK.

The early hunt will be a fiasco with 800 cow and all the spike hunters. It will be a shooting gallery which might be fun.

The late hunt really can be fun and rewarding. Lots of hiking during a fun spot & stalk type hunt.

It is an early hunt, Oct. 6. I won't be able to get away until Monday the 8th. So that is when we will be going.

quality of perseverance. It overcomes
almost everything, even nature.

By Monday most of the crowd will be gone and you can get back to normal hunting. They'll (elk) be a little tight in the brush after being run for 2 days but good spot & stalk tactics will start to work again.
Good luck!

Water Hollow is a deep dark hole! You can only get in there by foot or horse and most of the property down low towards the currant creek road is private. Lots of elk though and they always head east onto the private property when they get pressure.
