He's pretty dang wide, wide enough for sure. Great buck, thanks for sharing it..

Ears look a bit pinched but Id still put him at 30". Those deer up in the 2s carry some big ears but his look a little on the small side. Got a nice one on the South end a couple of years ago that went 28" ear to ear.

He looks like a young buck. So even if his ears are only 20" across, he looks to be 5" past his ears. I would say he is at least a 30" buck. I sure would like to put a tape on him in the back of my pick-up!

LAST EDITED ON Jul-16-07 AT 05:20PM (MST)[p]Dusty-That buck will go a solid 30" IMHO. and I'm the type of guy who tends to subtract one or two from everything (to offset everyone elses adding one or two- but it looks like theres more like me around here.)

What's the SJRO consensus?

You guys catching any of this rain ? I'm feeling good cold weather for November- What's the antlers gonna be like this year?

Affirmative Rack, I've got a late rifle tag up there too this year- and the constant daydreaming about it is what's led me here.

I still can't figure just how "young" you guys think that buck is. he's 5 1/2 if he's a day, by the time he rubs he'll be at LEAST 175 if not 185 or maybe more. I guess he does look kind of bambi-ish in his summer coat, but don't they all? When his neck is swolled up this fall he'll look mean enough. If you guys know a place that grows bucks like that in less than 5 years I'd totally love to know where it is.

Looks like I picked the right outfitter and drew the right tag! Save that one for me.

LAST EDITED ON Jul-16-07 AT 08:43PM (MST)[p]10-4 I get you Rack-I think Utah would have the best shot at it. but that buck right there was a 24" 4x4 when he was 2/3 too- You know what I'm getting at? Any 28-30 inch 180 classers coming out at 2-4 years old somewhere? I get what people are saying that his ears look smallish, I think their pulled forward a, bit, my guess is still a solid 30. maybe he's only 28, but he's not a young buck. He could very well be a 6 year old and put on 195 or better by the time he's done.

I'd say he looks a solid 30 as well. He does have that young look to him, could easily be a 4 year old. Forks look weak. Still has a month of growing yet, but I don't think he'll grow into 180.

Looks like a 30 incher to me as well, but barely 30. And I agree with most; he'll go 175 to 180 unless he really puts on a top end in the next few weeks.
