Hunted this unit 10 or so year's ago with muzzleloader. Bagged a 2-point at 12 feet. Fun hunt. Didn't learn much about the unit. Hunt went pretty quick. Anyone having any info about the unit during the late season would be much appreciated. Couple of lesson's I did learn was to: bring chain's that fit and get the heck off the road if ya' want to see deer. I kept driving the road's looking for fresh sign before hunting and after a day and a half of this (with only one day left to hunt) I just parked and started hoofing it off the road and shot the first legal critter I came across. Any tip's would be appreciated. Thank's, Patrick.

I got a tip, give me some of your luck, bull tag, sheep tag and now buck tag. Good luck, shoot a big 30 inch migrator. Im sure someone on here will point ya in the right direction.

Littlefoot1, I think I had 5 point's for this draw.

KirkL, What can I say? The draw's have been tough for so long and now 2 year's in a row have been ......sweet!

HC...Mike, I spent part of today marking out(highlighting) unit boundarie's on my map from 10 year's ago. I was in the process of getting forest fire boundarie's to highlight on my map 'till my printer crapped out. I probably got a little too animated as my lab looked at me with her ear's flapped tight to her noggin! My plan right now is to get the recent forest fire's mapped out on my map, pick up a couple of more USGS map's and do some viewing from a lookout in the Slide Ridge unit (Grouse Mtn.) when I get some day's off from work. It'd be a great excuse to get Deb and the camper van out for a little mountain time! I see (cruising this site) you got a dandy muley tag yourself! Did you draw with a partner? Maybe we could hook-up and scout together. Two different side's of the lake might be a little difficult but we could save a little on fuel cost's and maybe get a different perspective of scouting from each other. Give me a shout! Take care, Patrick.

Patrick.....

A scouting trip would be great! I drew that tag as a single. (no partner) I should have put in as a partner with my son who is maybe more excited than I am. I am trying to get over there to have a look around before the summer runs out.

I'm in the process of getting as much information as I can so I can narrow down (if that's possible) where those bucks tend to come through on their migration.

What are your expectations this year as far as the type of buck you are looking for?

Good to hear from you!

Mike
