here you go guys, a friend of mine just gave me this info & i thougt I would share.

Australian gun law Update
here's a thought to warm some of your hearts. From Ed C A police officer in Australia.
High Yanks I thought you would like to see the real figures from down under. It has been 12 months since gun owners in Austrailia wer forced by a new law to surrender 640,381 personal firearms to be destroyed by our own government, a program that cost taxpayers more than 500 million dollars.
First year results are now in.

Australia-wide Homicides Up 6.2 percent
Australia-wide assaults Up 9.6 percent
Australia-wide armed robberies Up 44 percent (yes 44)
In the state of Victoria alone homicides with firearms are up 300 percent. (note that while the law abiding citizens turned them in, the criminals did not & criminals still have guns) while figures over the previous 25 years showed a steady decrease in armed robbery with firearms, this has changed drastically upward in the past 12 months, since the criminals now are guaranteed that their prey is unarmed.there has also been a dramatic increase in break-ins and assaults of the elderly, while the resident is at home.
Austrailian politicians are at a loss to explain how public safety has decreased, after such monumental effort and expense was expended in "successfully ridding australian society of guns" you won't see this on the american evening news or hear your governor or members of the state assembly disseminating this info. the australian experience speaks for itself.guns in the hands of honest citizens save lives and property and, yes, gun-control laws affect only the law-abiding citizens.
TAKE NOTE
FORWARD TO EVERYONE & STAND UP FOR YOUR RIGHTS.BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE.

Great post. This info needs to get to every american. Not that most of the sheep here would believe it though!

LAST EDITED ON Aug-10-07 AT 10:59PM (MST)[p]I hope all the Aussies were not stupid enoung to give 'em up some one had to have a few burried in the back yard..?

isn't that what Hitler did after he took power, confiscate all weapons ?

well i see not many people give a _ _ _ _ about their rights. If this were to happen in u.s.a it would affect our hunting rights also. glad to see two people care about our rights. thanks for posting response guys & right on manny my fellow rouge valley resident.

Old news, I read that months ago as well as the latest update on the crime stats in England. They used both results in there case in DC to get rid of the Ban on weapons.

really old news. That is from years ago. jvgunner find something a little newer and you'll get some responses instead of assuming no one is interested in gun rights.
