my brother spent a couple days looking before i showed up. i arrived to the news of a couple good bulls spotted but no cows.
we looked high and low but could not find any herds. this was the common theme. over the course a 4 days we spotted 14 bulls and 0 cows. my niece passed up a broke up 6 point on day 2 and the following morning i glassed up 2 bulls feeding in a burn over a mile out, 1 bull looked like a shooter so i got my brother in position after i bedded them in some thick burnt cedars. after a about an hr wait the bulls stood up to switch beds and that was all it took for her to make the decision he was good enough.....1 shot at 408 yards and she pancaked him on the spot....it was a good day to say the least....great bull...i think she was the only one not sweating that we had not seen alot of elk...always a smile on her face and a upbeat attitude.

this is the view from where the bull was bedded. she threaded a bullet from the far ridge....the words "pancaked him" was the common theme for the rest of the day.

Awesome bull! Unfortunately, she has set the standard rather high...I hope she doesn't think that all bulls are that big :>)

Contratulations to your niece.

thanks for the comments, she is happy with her bull....she got him with a 7mm with a gunwerks scope...she is deadly with it, last year she got a nice 4 point at over 350 yards, another 1 shot kill

LAST EDITED ON Mar-02-13 AT 06:10AM (MST)[p]Thanks for the bump. I missed this the first goaround and caught it this time. That gal is quite the shooter and has two bulls already in her young career---Fantastic!!!

Looks like you've got that unit figured out. Picture looks just like a couple others you've posted. I have more fun helping first timers anymore. I've helped several on that unit. Looks like you do too. Good job to both of you. BacDoc

What kinda mount did she decide on? afterall t-a...?

BacDoc.....miss our BS sessions at the B.T. trailhead...

Your oldest go on a mission or did he go into the Marines?

another great bull looks like the same country as the other pics you have shared great job.

That is a great bull and cool story. Its funny how we get stressed or have butterflies in our stomach when helping other on a hunt. Especially when your not seeing many. Alot of times these type of hunts are more fun than having the tag yourself.

You can't kill them on the couch!
