Big Typical

I was hunting on the Manti this past weekend and someone at one of the cafe in Hunington had a picture on their camera phone of a HUGE typical that came off a general unit down by the Henry's. Does anyone out there in Southeastern MonsterMuley land know about it? It was an absolute giant the length and mass were unbelievable! They said it grossed 220 and netted 212 with a hook cheater on the left g2. If you haven't heard about it, you will in an upcoming magazine. I guess the hunter is from Hunington.

Wow, they're tipping over some big deer already this year!
I have only seen the big one here on MM from the salt lake unit and heard about a big 213 typical 4x4 from Beaver that should net around 202 P&Y.

That is an amazing deer .I like non typicals ,but theres nothing like huge ,heavy typicals .Congrats to the hunter .

Holy crap, that's a stud! Couldn't of been killed by a nicer guy either. I imagine we'll be seeing it in a future Trophy Hunter. Congrats Brad! That's an awesome buck!

Awsome buck Brad, that's amazing. That thing has to have more than 25" of mass to the side. Congrats!

Yes, I know about it I have held it! It is a monster, the kid is from Huntington but now lives in Price. I 30" wide, 50" of mass it scores around 212 gross and 203 net.

That Beaver buck is incredible, however believe it or not the Hunington/Price buck is equally UNBELIEVABLE. If anyone can get some pics of it and post it we will all be blown away.

All of these pictures of huge bucks taken with a bow has got to get you rifle hunters panties in a bunch. It is like taking sloppy seconds.

Way to go fellow bowhunters way to go!

Doesnt upset me one bit. I for one am happy when other guys have success, no matter what weapon they choose. Hopefully one day it will be me having that kind of success.

Congrats to both hunters on OUTSTANDING bucks! Good to see Utah producing some good bucks.

The only problem is now the DWR will say, "See, look, Utah has great bucks. There is no reason to change things now!" :)

Scott,

No doubt some great bucks have been killed, but when compared to the number of hunters in the field it's pretty sad.

All the more kudos to the few guys that have killed some monsters on our public general season archery hunt. They beat some huge odds and killed monster deer.

I've got a feeling that CO is about to open up a can of archery whoop $!@#$ on Utah.........

I know of several Nevada monsters that are flying under the radar. Utah's hunting community is unique-very few big deer are killed w/o a bunch of hype. Other states don't seem as media crazy.

All that being said, I know you're right about what the DWR may be thinking.....

Paul,

Im with you, Utah needs some major changes. I hear how successful Colorado has been since they made some changes, and I hope Utah does something similar. I want my kids to be able to enjoy great hunting in Utah when they get older.

These are the deer of dreams and fantasy. You all know the deal, you've had the same dreams. I am totally speechless.

The Beaver Buck was killed on public land DIY.The bow is a High Country Iron Mace. He used an Inventive Technologies red dot sight and bracket. He also used an Inventive Technologies broadhead and Accuvane. I'm sure you'll be able to read about the hunt on Trophy Hunter magazine because his sister and brother-in-law are Lesa and Rusty Hall, the owners of TH mag.The buck was green scored 213 1/8 and nets 201 3/8. It's an amazing buck.I'm sure Rusty will have it in his booth at the shows when the mount is done.

THANKS FOR FINDING A PICTURE. DOES ANYONE KNOW FOR SURE WHAT THE SECOND BUCK SCORES?

Congrats to the hunters!
Truly bucks of a lifetime.
Thanks for posting those photos.. They are both simply incredible!

Great bucks for sure. I'm curious about scoring velvet bucks, who's system is being used to score velvet? My guess is that they are not stripping the velvet, so if they are not, they cant be using B/C or are they just doing their best to compress the tape around the bone?

Please dont think I'm trolling or trying to take anything away from the hunters or the deer, i'm just curious about throwing scores around for velvet deer. . .

Thanks,

Some dandy typicals for sure! I also heard of another big typical be taken in southern utah on another general unit that supposedly is 206". Anybody else heard of this? I will see if the person that told me has any pics.

I went and talked to the guy who shot it and he said it is 30" outside spread, Grossed 220" non-typical and netted around 210" typical..the deduction was the little hooker cheater, and some little extra eye-guards, he says it was shot on public ground, but then i hear all of these other people talking about it saying it was shot on private....SO I WANNA KNOW....PUBLIC or PRIVATE..regardless its a dandy..
