BIGGEST DEER IN THE STATE.

Where have you seen the biggest deer in the state in the past.
Seems like every small bar you go to that question comes up we were just discussing it last weekend.
I have seen some big deer in the past in 032 but not recently also suprisingly the clan alpine range years ago and the santa rosas my friend was talking about the deer he used to see around leadbetter but not anymore, they are still there i think they are just more educated.

Deep in the heart of the Ruby's about 15 years ago. He was a giant among giants.

We had our Hawkens and couldn't get close enough for a decent shot.

That is wat a friend said about the leadbetter deer, It made the nice 4 points look small like a whole other breed of deer different color bigger body and his antlers layed straight out.

I've seen some hogs in 111-113 as well as 122, 222 and 114-115. Me and my buddys have taken countless trophys outta these areas. I hear area 6 is really good.

On a hunt in the East Humbolts years ago we were back in the area called the "Boulders". There was a point with three of the largest bucks I have ever seen in all of my years of deer hunting. They picked their place well as there was no way to get close enough for a shot. Any approach we could have attempted they would see us and simply drop off the end of the point. They were absolute monsters and I will never forget that sight of those three bucks as along as I live. Even at 600 - 700 yards you could see that they were bucks and when I put a spotting scope on them my jaw dropped. Quite a sight indeed. I have seen some real big bucks over the years of hunting there but none like those three.

Hey model-70-guy, I will be in that neck of the woods this summer doing some scouting and looking for those three bucks or thier offspring. I hunted the other side last year and just looking for new country. You gotta love those Rubies! fatrooster.

One of my favorites too. Only hunted the East humboldts during late rifle and late archery but think I'll scout them this summer just for fun and exercise for the stock. May pay off in the future.

I have seen some monsters in 6 and 032. High, wide, tall, with unbelievable mass, and I mean super super thick. With huge bodies to boot, almost look like elk.

2 not so well known areas for big bucks, are actually from where the number 1 and number 2 nontypicals came. the 325 giant was out of 162 and the number 2 came off the Diamond mountains in area 14. granted both were killed about 50 years ago but things have changed. a lot of things point to area 231 as holding the best bucks in the state. area 24 and 22 are also some great spots. however, im a firm believer that there are great deer in every area, its just a matter of getting out there and finding them.

Happy Hunting

Anybody have pics to share of their trophys from Nevada. Here is an Eastern Nevada buck I took that scored 175 net.

Not the biggest in the state, but the biggest I've taken.

I've hunted the Diamonds in the past and found that the quality is definately good in those mountains. When I was a kid, i was in the Diamonds with my dad and my grandfather and saw several nice deer up high, but it was when I was down in the flats hunting for grouse when I found both sides of a previous years shed the were huge. I took them home and had my dad had them mounted. That was back in the early 80's.

In 1997, I drew the Diamonds once again and went up with a friend of mine. We hunted hard for 5 days and his boy shot his first deer. The last day of our hunt proved to be a good one. We had hiked up the bottom of a canyon in the dark and set up near a high mountain sheep camp and waited for daylight. We started seeing deer everywhere. We must have counted over 150 deer and could not put horns on 1 of them. Finally, one more came out and his horns jumped right out at me. My buddy never had a chance to even get a good look at the deer before it dropped. I believed the deer to possibly be a descendant of the one I found so many years ago. I'll try to dig up some photos of both of them. This was pre-digital camera and the prints seem to get scattered.

The Diamonds are a great area.
