AZ Statewide Tag Success?

Just received an email from a buddy that a 38inch 290+ buck was supposedly killed this week north of the Ditch. No pictures or other info. Anyone out here in MM land can confirm this? Thanks

They broke a new record with over 1,500 trail cams placed at every wet or potentially wet spot on the strip, at least a dozen chute planes in the air at all times (using night vision after dark), three dozen guides and assistant guides glassing every ridge and valley, and high resolution heat sensing satellite imagery from NASA combing the dense junipers at night for heat signatures accompanied by high calcium and phosphorous readings, which yielded a rifle velvet buck pushing 300" for a governors tag holder.

At least, that is how I imagine it going down, but I haven't heard anything yet. ;-)

The word I received is that there was a monster buck taken on the kiabab early season.It was said to be pushing the 300" mark.
It was rumored to come off of 12AE.

With the lack of rain in the norther part of Az it is going to be very tought for a buck to put that much bone on his head this year,unless it was a catus buck like Sam's off the strip a couple years back.If it is that big it would be the biggest buck ever taken off the kaibab that has been recorded.I was on the Kaibab most of April and May and it was very dry for that time of year a lot of empty water holes.I would very much like to see a 290 buck off any place in Az this year.

Not to be a smart arse but, isn't the current AZ state record score over 300 and was killed in the Kaibab 40-50 years ago?

I know of two bucks that have been entered in B&C and P& Y that have scored 260 or better from Kaibab.If there is a bigger buck I missed it in the books.Now thats not to say that one bigger has never been taken,as many hunters never heard of B&C much less knew how to score one!!!Many hunters from the past just threw the antlers on the roof of the wood shed or in the barn,never knowing they had a real B&C trophy?

The 11th Edition of the B&C Records Book has a North Kiabab muley ranked as #5 All Time. It scores 324 1/8 and was killed by William Murphy in 1943. A Kiabab buck is also ranked as #9 All Time. It scores 311 6/8 and was killed by Vernor Wilson in 1941. The next listings for the Kiabab is 282 2/8, 281 3/8 & 279 6/8. So yea, the Kiabab has produced some WHOPPERS in the past. As for the rumour of a recent 290+ buck, there is no truth to the rumour.
