Hey guys I was just wondering what people thought of the Dutton muzzy hunt? I have a really good chance at drawing it this year. I know the unit pretty good and have spent alot of time hunting it mostly for deer. Im not afraid to get away from roads and I know how tough and rough that mtn is. Just curious what people thought and how the hunt last year went on there? Thanks in advance for any input.

Utahbb,
Is that Dutton bull the one you posted on the loaded backpack thread?

That is the one goof. Thanks! He is not a toad but I am damn proud of him after thinking that rock was gonna kill me. Kinda have the ground shrinkage in the pics with me being a 6'7" 300 pounder.

Nothing wrong with that bull utahbigbulls. Love the shords and top end of him!!!

Love to hunt elk, but in this state on the limited entry units it can be a stressful hunt after waiting so many years to draw. I have 19 and have yet to draw and can already fill the stress of a twenty year wait!!!

LAST EDITED ON Feb-25-13 AT 02:23PM (MST)[p]rmanwill, that was my problem and I only had 10 points and I can't imagine waiting two decades. Had the 350+ or bust attitude and damn near lost everything I had due to the tunnel vision. The stress, expectations, and dramma I put myself through on the hunt damn near ruined me. That mountain can seriously tear a guy down. He came in short of my goal but my priorities changed once I downed him. Big life lesson is what I remember every time I look at him.

7mm08, that is my biggest advice if you draw that tag. That mountain can be a ball buster and just do one thing. Hunt as hard as you can and walk away with your head held high knowing you did everything you can do. Enjoy the hunt, take every moment in because that is a specail mountain and success is not measured in inches there.

That Muzzy hunt is tough because it is after the rifle group has been in there for 9 days.

When I had that tag, my prescouting was pretty much worthless. It took me 4 days before I even saw an elk. IMO The muzzy hunt on the dutton is a VERY tough hunt.

Hunted it two years ago with my uncle. We saw a lot of bulls and passed on a few bigger than the one he ended up killing. One of the most fun hunts I've been apart of.
If you know the unit, go for it! There's still some real good bulls up there.
