Longtime lurker 1st post. My brother drew Boulder/Kaiparowits early elk at the expo and I'm looking for any info from people who have hunted there. We have traveled through the area but have not hunted there. I'm also thinking about putting in for general archery deer in the same unit to get in more scouting. Hows the archery deer hunt in this area? Any info would be much appreciated. Thanks

YOUR BROTHER DREW MY TAG!!!! jk...
All though, I did tell my kids that would be a favotite..

The deer on Boulder were hurting a couple years ago,
but they are recovering quite well at this point.

Thick, Thick and Thick, Not really a glassing unit. lots of 300 inch type bulls, hard to find a giant, but they are there. Tough to scout as the bulls move with the rut. Should have help from someone who has hunted it in the past or hire a guide. You'll probably be a little disappointed with the average size of the bulls if you are a trophy hunter, but could go home with the bull of a lifetime if lucky or have past experience.

Great unit. Used to be one of the better ones in the state. Lots of big bulls if you put in your time scouting and hunting. Like stated bulls will move around durring the rut but they do that on all units. It is thick but if you do your homework you can find your vantage points for glassing. Plenty of 330-350 with a some over 360 usually 1 400 bull will come out of there every few years. they used to pull a 400 off there almost every year but those days are pretty much gone. Congrats to your brother good luck on the hunt.
