The data on my bull is on my survey on the Utah website. My bull was a 300 class 6x6 and was only 4 years old. Not as old as 'I wanted but still happy with him.

Go check yours for your bulls age.

Thanks for posting, I was wondering when it would show up. I just checked mine and it was an 8 year old Manti bull that went about 330.

Which unit did you hunt?

*EDIT
I was guessing he'd be 4 years old. Here's a pic. I used a tape measure to get a very rough score of 297.

1st bull tooth of 6 years. Right at 350
2nd bull tooth of 9 years. Just under 330
Deer tooth of 6 years.

Not to start any fights, but I don't believe the data. I'd bet a steak dinner the first bull is over 6 and that buck is over 6 as well.

Pumaguy I'll bet you a Pepsi and raise you a Dr pepper that tooth data is as far from right as you can get. On some animals it may be close and on others I've seen.....way off. Does make you wonder if the technique is inaccurate or wonder with all the teeth they get...maybe some get switched?Sure looks like the road less though :)

All three are Bookcliffs animals. Not this past year though. One roadless elk, one road late season bull, and the buck is off the south side on rifle. If that 1st bull is a 6 year old Bookcliffs bull, boy would I have liked to see him in another 3 or 4 years. Funny thing is we have sheds from a bull damn near a twin to him that the son just picked up this years drops and they are almost identical. Thing is he has the past six years of sheds and they are all branched antler.

Sliver, I still wish I'd had a video camera of your bull the morning I watched him. Still one of the prettiest antlered bulls I've seen come off the Bookcliffs.

this is my wifes bookcliffs archery bull he is a 7x7 scored 377" and they aged him at 7 we will call him sevens lol

When the teeth are cut, an age and a "rating" are given. The "rating" ranges from A-C. An "A" would suggest that the tooth was read with a high confidence of accuracy. Anything other than a "A" rating, I wouldn't put too much confidence in.

I'm not sure why the ratings are not included in the report issued from the division.

As a side note, I have noticed that even self-proclaimed wildlife experts have been terrible at judging age classes of deer and elk. I have even heard people give guesses of age from looking at sheds. I think it stems from an inability to look past the antlers, mixed with lack of knowledge of other physiological traits that can aid in aging an animal.

Antler size can be extremely variable and can be a poor way to judge age.

Says mine was 5. I was thinking he would be 6.

Dutton bull scored right at 360

Thanks Pumaguy. I wish I had some video of him as well, seems like I video'd every other bull within 5 miles of him, but just didn't see him until the morning I let him have it.
