This massive buck was killed by my dad right after it ran across the road in front of him and my uncle. Stopped 100 yards away and looked at them. It was up on this hill and when he shot, the buck rolled down the hill right to the road. Old guys and their luck, I tell ya.

My cousin shot this one last weekend of season last year. Pretty odd gnarled buck.

Let me know what you think.

Awesome picx, looks like you, your family, and your buddies have had some good luck in years past. Look forward to more picx this year. Good luck on the hunts.

That buck in the 5th pic is an absolute stud! The last pic looks like there's some regression going on.
All nice bucks, thanks for posting.

Great pic, Love that eastern Montana area use to hunt up by Fairview area, we just loved the area but have been hunting closer to home that 24 hr drive was the kicker.

Yeah, we hunt farther south a bit west of there. I have a good buddy from Fairview and have spent quite a bit of time up there. Nice county, the breaks are awesome. Big whitetails up there too. We hunt around Ashland. My dad grew up there and has been hunting there since 1951 so it just stands to reason that we hunt there too. We have had some good luck there. That big nontypical is about the biggest that anyone in my family has taken in a very long time in Montana. My dad shot a big one in Colorado in the 1960's that is bigger but thats about it. I'm attaching that picture. Was Eagle County 1967 I think.

He is 34" wide with 6.5" bases and 8x8 scores right at 216bc unofficially. Exceptional buck for sure.

Thanks for all the comments.

Matt-those are great pics. I've done the Alzada thing a few years, including hopefully this Nov. How's the antler growth this year?

I think I'm going to start coming back,Maybe next year, I do miss the area and the people, Alot of Big WT with a any buck tag it's a great place to hunt, Do they still sell doe tags at the courthouse, last time we could get like 8 doe tags but I know that blue tongue thing hit up that way shortly after that.
Lovw those breaks up high and river banks full of willows with beet fields all around.

LAST EDITED ON Sep-17-07 AT 02:12PM (MST)[p]Not too sure about the courthouse. We bought all our tags in Colstrip at the hardware store. Last year they had two whitetail doe tags, two mule deer doe tags, either sex either species deer, antelope either sex plus two doe tags. Crazy numbers the last few years. Its a nice place to hunt. I actually moved to Wisconsin this spring so I don't have any firsthand information but I talk to my brother who's been out a lot already and seen some really nice muley bucks. One of them is a 28 incher with double cheaters on the one side. Nice mainframe. He was going after him this past weekend. Haven't heard any news yet. I will pass what I hear along though. We had a really wet spring so I think the growth was pretty good from what I have heard.
