I drew an Owyhee unit deer tag, been scouting the southern part of the unit between the Idaho-Oregon border and Jordan Valley and not had much luck. Would anyone have any suggestions for hunting the southern part of this unit? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Mike

I chuckar hunt there some years in November and haven't seen enough bucks to get me very exited. as in all of Oregon deer numbers are VERY low, don't expect to see many deer. the best advice for that unit is there are a few nice bucks with an emphasis on few , be lucky is your best strategy.

Not to try to sound negative but deer hunting in Oregon is poor just about everywhere, if so many resident hunters weren't happy shooting a dink ever few years ODFW may have to do something about it, for now that's just the way it is.

I've hunted the Idaho side a couple times years ago. Pretty desolate country. You might stop at a ranch in your unit and ask for some help. We found most of the ranchers to be very friendly.

Good luck! There used to be GIANT bucks in that country. Probably still has a few!

See if you can get on some private land around Adrian. Seen lots of great bucks last year while chuckar hunting and calling dogs. Also seen some toads right down on the owyhee river.
