Haven't seen too many bucks posted in the last little while so I guess I'll post my 2007 muzzleloader buck.

My goal on this hunt was 180" gross and when I found this buck on the second day of the hunt I was sure he was the one. I watched him and his buddy bed down, made a two hour stalk over shale rock and cliffs to get within 40 yards of him, and thumped him as he stood a few yards from where he had been bedded and looked around for the danger he was apparently starting to sense. He was too late. He made it about 125 yards down into the basin before going down and starting to roll. Not Good! Luckily he only rolled about 100 yards before stopping, which I felt was pretty good considering the slope, which as you can see in the photos, was just slightly steeper than gradual.

First thing I noticed when I walked up to him was how small his body was and how tiny his head and ears.....oops....no 180" gross this time. He's about 165" and is a dandy buck in my book. Sure did fool me though. He's also the best buck we saw in three days of hunting so who knows if I would have found that 180 incher anyway. My brother filled his tag the next evening on a nice little 4x4 to finish off an awesome hunt.

great buck headgear. To bad his velvet is so trashed. Definitely some nasty hills there.

Here is my Brother's buck. It was his first in a number of years as he has until the last year or so been a poor college boy with no time or funds for hunting. He's coming back strong this year though.

Good luck to all with your upcoming hunts. I've got a few left this year. We'll see how they go.

Are you sure you're brothers? You don't look at all alike.

Stay out of our state. It seems that every time you enter our state, a big buck dies. Stay in Utah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Congratulations....I guess. Hey, by the way, are you still a bowhunter?

That, my friend, is a very good buck. Reading MM post's gives one the impression that true 180 deer are plentiful and a realistic goal for most. They are few and far between I don't care where you are hunting.
