Rookie AZ Resident

Hello all! I am new to AZ, been here about 8 months.. I live in the far west valley and was curious if there were any deer in the Whit Tank Mts. I know the G&F says there is but have any of you had any encounters in there? What is a good starting point North/South/East/West? I am anxious to get in there and scout it out, I've seen some sign in the flats just hiking through there..

Your probably not going to get many responses on this one. Do your homework, hunt hard and you will find deer. Lots of hard, steep and loud country. Archery only so be prepared to long shots. Call Mark Stewart of the AZ Game and Fish Dept. for info. Hike the canyons during the off season and you will see deer. Use the best optics you have and glass, glass, glass. A good starting point is Ford Canyon. Plan on a lot of hiking and long distances from inside the park. Most of the deer are inside the park so... The best hunting in that area is during the 2nd through the 4th week of January. Good luck and let me know what you see.
