Nine Mile, Anthro Unit

With one point and turning 60 in a few months I know I don't have a prayer in hell of drawing out on elk. It took 14 years on my last tag and I don't think I want to try packing out one at 73! That being said my good friend from Canada drew out on Nine Mile, Anthro Unit early hunt. He will be turning 70 this year and has this old fart as his guide. Looking to get pointed in the right direction. As to where to start scouting, ATV access, and private property boundaries or any other help. I know I'm not as good as I once was but for my friend I'll be as good as I ever was. I can already feel the legs cramps from those scouting trips!

I'll be there, this year, Again, with an archery tag.
(I'm NOT rubb'in it in BESS,Please leave that last bull alone,, Wink ;-) )

I had this same tag in 2004, spent almost 40 days on the unit,
HAD A FREAK'in blast! Feel like I have an advantage this time,
learned so much in 04...Ran into the cattle ranchers a few times,
Ended up with a "water map", I've got a map were every single
drop of water is marked!!! Pretty darn handy when elk hunting!

ATV access there is standard,Just keep'em on established roads.

Indian ground, STRICKLY off limits..Need to be careful there.

The best map I've found is Ashley forest map,
Roosevelt/Duchesne district.....

Once upon a time that was a great tag, Now under the right circumstances you can have a blast. Any hunt is as good as you make it, good luck
