Colorado Elk Refund a Little Short

Received my non-res refund yesterday. The attached receipt identifies it as elk refund with my updated preference points plus it's labeled 'elk'.

However, the check is only for $326. The elk refund should be more like $550. Deer and antelope refunds are $326. Looks like a mistake has occurred.

Anybody else have this problem??

Point only refund. That is what ours were. Price of cow permit. If you put in for a full price bull tag then it is short.

If you only put in for a point it only charges you the cost of a cow tag. The refund would be correct if this is what you did. If put in for a bull tag it would have been around $550. Better check your application fees.

I'm still waiting for my tag I drew to show up from Colorado...... and Utah for that matter!

Are you serious? I didn't apply for a cow tag..........but did apply for a point as I have for MANY, MANY years. Where the fawk is this listed in the regs? Where does Colorado get off ripping me off for only crediting me for applying me for a point instead of a bull tag JUST TO MAKE MONEY?

When did this change? It wasn't this way up until this year. I'm going to every state congressperson as well as the CDOW directors and management over this hunter ripoff. Expect liveliness from me if what you are saying is suddenly true.

If you applied for a point, it only charged you 326. Not the 500+ or whatever it is for the bull tag. Go back and check your CC statement.

It has been that way for several years. If your only choice is for pref point then they only charge your credit card $354 (the same cost as a cow tag) + $10 (habitat stamp). Don't worry they didn't rip you off.

You can find the info in the green box on the right hand side of page 28 in the regulations.

LAST EDITED ON Jun-18-13 AT 10:28PM (MST)[p]Awright Listeners,

You are right and I'm wrong. I hereby acknowledge this. Good for them or I would've opened up can of whoop-ass on 'em......as I no longer trust the once-trustable CDOW that used to lead by example. I did indeed check my original credit card charges............$1072 for deer, elk, and antelope original application charges..........plus a few dollars in application fees which I can certainly live with.

Still.........I can't stand them hiding this chickensheet sheet in a tiny little place in their waaaaaaaaay overly complicated regs. I apply all over the west.......and CO regs are by far the worst.......no question. I'm almost in the mood to hire one of the application services..........oh wait no I'm not.

Thanks for your input you terrific dudes.....as I was pretty overheated over this horsestuff. It's actually hard for me to believe (but VERY satisfying) that somebody other than me is more up to snuff on application BS around the west than I am. I must be getting old.......and fawking off in lazy-ass style.

Take care, all.

I was waiting for my Elk refund to come in the mail like my mule deer did but it never showed...I called CDOW and they told me I drew the Tag!

I have 0 preference points and live out of state. The tag is Unit 551 near Gunnison. Any advice on where to hunt would be greatly appreciated.
