Going Elk hunting 2nd season in the Clark area, theres lots of buck tags left. Will I kick myself later if I dont buy one?

There are a number of units in NW CO. Some great, some good, some so-so.

$300 (NR deer license fee) is a bit of dough if all you have a chance for is a dink. There's probably a reason for there being a lot of tags left over. But if you're rolling in it, then by all means.

Best of luck on your 2nd rifle hunt. I head to CO on Monday. I got real worried when the Rockies won their series and I'm passing thru DEN. Game in AZ on Wed and Game at Coors on Fri. I pass thru DEN on Thursday. Wish I could watch a game, but really, what's more important? Hunting or Baseball?

Hope you get a chance to see a game at Coors Field, I saw one there over the summer. Good piont about the tags. Last time we hunted our area a couple of guys in our party had deer tags and they got there bucks but I think they were used to seeing Mnn whitetails because these were some mighty small muleys. I never did see a deer. Thanks for the reply.

I have never heard of a town called Clark in NW Colorado (and I used to live there). Do you mean Craig?

That's a tough question. If I was in your shoes, I'd be wondering the very same thing. However, if you don't buy a tag and you see a buck you'd like to shoot, you'll be hating yourself for not doing it. Scott

Clark is about 16 miles north of Steamboat Springs on the road to Steamboat Lake. I got married very close to Clark (at Steamboat Lake) and we had our reception at Clark. It's right on the Elk River.

If you can afford it get yourself a tag. There are a few bigger bucks (I saw several camping there this summer) and you might get lucky and get a shot at one. Don't expect a Booner. More likely you'll be able to fill a tag on a smaller buck. You can expect to see lots of other hunters, the area has many forest roads, ATV trails, etc. Using your feet to get away from them is always a good idea. The tag is good over a huge area including units 4, 14, 214, and 441.

Best of Luck to you,
