No kill photos for me yet but I did pass up this guy at 50 yards yesterday. I'd guess he's in the 320 class range. He was snow white antlered with bits of velvet hanging. Sorry for the poor picture. It is a photo of my video as I videoed him instead of shooting him.

I hope you don't regret passing him later. He's a beautiful bull. What unit?

That would be hard to pass up unless I knew for certain there were bigger bulls in the area.

Talk about control. I don't think I would have passed especialy with a bow.

Well it was easier to pass since I was trying to kill the bigger bull behind him. If he would have been by himself I may be singing a different tune. I've never killed a bull with my bow either so I do wonder about my decisions but I know there are bigger bulls around and the fun is about to begin so I hope it works out for me. Here is a picture of the other bull that was with the white horned one. I figure he is a year older with better mass and tine length. I think he will score better too even with the broken 6th on his left side. It was broken while in the velvet so I don't know how he managed that. I've got video of it all that I will post later when I get home from my hunt so the best I have is a photo off my video recorder.

Hey Fox,

I had a Wasatch Archery tag in 2012 and in 2004. Last year I passed up a bull just like the one you posted just because he had bone-white antlers and didn't look good to me. I ended up not harvesting a bull last year, and I had no regrets. My advise is to hunt hard, savor every minute of the hunt, and shoot the bull that looks good to YOU, whether it's big or small, not worrying about what other people think. Just try to enjoy your time afield.

Good luck with your hunt!

Great advice Nimrod!

heading out to hunt my book cliffs roadless archery elk tag in about 1 week... ill post some pics with my bull if i get lucky enough :)

That Beaver bull is amazing even though I don't like the antler color since they are not rubbed enough. I still wouldn't complain one bit if I shot that bull. Might be another epic elk year in Utah.

Well WhiteMoose?

Since you're a Taxidermist You could probably fix the color of the Antlers right?

Or would you let that lil ole 407" PISSCUTTER Walk?

A taxidermist can do anything, just ask 'em ;-)

If I shot that bull, I would probably darken the antlers. I'm partial to the dark brown timber bull antlers that smell like a fresh cut Christmas tree. I saw a freshly rubbed bull recently that was totally white. Could have spotted him miles away.

Nice bull Downwind!

Are you kidding me Stomper???

You have set the bar high for yourself!

I know you have chased many an elk and I know this makes a difference in your standards, but I would shoot that bull with any tag in the entire state on opening day.

Good on ya and the best of luck!

Stomper,

What do you guess the bull in your pic wiould score?

Thanks,
Barry

That bulls 380. However hes a little over 390 now. Since that pic his tops grew a little more and with all the rain hes watering somewhere else and has disappeared.

If you guys saw the bull i was on in there last year u would understand why im reluctant to shoot anything short of an absolute monster.

Stomper,
Wow - You must live in a completely different universe than the rest of us to not consider a 390 bull "an absolute monster". There are very few 390 bulls around on any unit, anywhere. Good luck with your quest man!!

Just make sure to share pictures of the monster you kill so we can see how far over 390" it is - and tell us how many bullets it took to kill it :)

Dont you have a unit 15 tag stinky? If thats a 15 bull, send me the coordinates, I leave Saturday :) Good luck.
