My dad drew the 061-071 muzzleloader hunt starts in a few weeks . We have never been there and would like to know what we are in for.Is it a pack in type area , are there a lot of elk , is the terrain really steep , can you glass long distance . Are the elk all over the zone , what would be considered a big elk for the area ?
Seems like there isn't much in the way of info for the area that I can find .
Also wanted to see what you all thought of our load we worked up .44 cal hornady xtp sabot 240gr. with 120gr of triple seven , would this be good enough for elk , we have taken some deer with this load and it dropped them in there tracks and went all the way through . I have some also have 300gr xtp would that be a better load ?
So anyway it will be the only elk hunt my dad will do in Nevada since he is 68 and cant apply again for 10 years so I want to make the best of it for him . Thanks , Tom
