Thought I would share what is probably my strangest kill, I killed this elk about 10 years ago not long after I got out of High School.

She is a cow elk with antlers and no bull parts.

I have personaly never seen another one, and have only herd of one other that a guy had posted pics of on monster muleys years ago I think even before I had killed this elk, I belive it was killed in Oregon, or Washington.

This Pics are not the best, they are pictures of pictures as digital cameras wasnt around a lot back then, took these with one of those disposable cameras.

Here are the pics.

Last fall in Nevada my cousin's wife killed her first buck. A nice 26-27 inch 4 point with a few cheaters. Since this was her first big game kill she was excited to see how they were gutted and so on. You can imagine my cousins surprise when he started on the buck only to find a milk sack and all doe parts. I wouldn't have believed him if he hadn't shown me the pics. His wife was so worried she was going to be in trouble for shooting a "doe"! It was one of the strangest things I have ever seen.

I have heard of these transexual mutations. They are mostly found on the west coast and predominately in the bay area of San Francisco.

About 30 years ago, my dad's buddy killed a cow elk with antlers in Wyoming. It was one that had been showing up at the elk refuge in Jackson. It even had a collar on it. He shot it during a migration hunt up there. Full velvet. Big set of antlers too!!!!
I'll have to ask my dad if he has any photos of it.

This is the reason why application and tags read "Any Antlered" and "Anterless" instead of Bull and Buck. I have heard about this occurring in deer, but this is the first time for elk.

Weird for sure. At least you got the quad to him....err.. HER which makes for an easy pack job.
Thanks for sharing,
Zeke

my family in Oregon has shot a few deer and an elk like that. they actually got ticketed for it and when the took it to court the judge laughed a threw it out cuz he openly said he shot a doe with antlers the previous weekend and thought it was a joke he got a ticket anyways

Just go to a Walmart or Winco on a Sunday and you'll see all kinds of mutation's, including women with mustache's.
It's true!!
