David Long

I Was hunting Wyoming region G this year for 9 days with a outfitter. David Long stopped by our camp one evening for a visit. He was a very decent & extremely smart person and was more than willing to share his information on big bucks in "G".
Although I did not fill my tag again, his info. was very valuable, and much appreciated. Just wanted to let you all know what kind of person he is. I now know first hand.

Well there is a real positive note to your hunt!.....You must be in the right spot! I would guess David Long wouldn't hike to a remote area just to say "hi"!.....He must be hunting close. I wonder what the circumstances were for you not to fill your tag....were you waiting for a monster or nothing?!

Im with the post above. If David Long stopped by your camp I don't think that its a stroll through the hills to say Hi! You were most definetly in the right spot, good muley hunters don't hunt where their are not going to kill big DEER! You should hunt the area again.

I have to agree. I met DL a few years ago in Colorado at a mutual friends house and he seemed like a good guy.

However, I think one of the Mods. here at MM has a beef with him though, because in a post I suggested to someone to buy his book "Public Land Muleys" and it got nuked. For what? I have no idea. Let's see how long this post last.

If you saw Dave in the mountains, you were definately in the right place!

On a second note, your sure taking a chance admitting you hired a guide! If "wapati" reads this, he's crucify your "fat & lazy a**"

Yes I was hunting a specific kind or size of buck. We saw a lot of bucks and a few good ones just could not get on them. Having hunted G for 20 years and many times solo I know how hard physically & mentally this hunt can be so I decided to go with a outfitter. Just thought that with my limited resources this year it would be my best chance at what I was after. Dave Long is as hard as, and as good as hunter as I've ever seen, very hard to do it like he does. Just my opinion.

I have to agree, Dave is awesome. I've only meet him once in person, but email back and forth every now and then. He's knows how to hunt big deer!!!

Those were a couple great bucks you & your buddy killed this year. Awesome job !!!! You had region H tag right ? The area looked a little familiar to me. Have you seen David Long's Colorado buck from this year ? real nice deer, 190 something typical. Take care
